This covenant is understood as a “conditional” covenant, because of the conditions that are mentioned in the Text. The indicates that they would receive blessings upon this condition: If they obey the LORD. So, there are “if-then” conditions in this covenant.
The purpose of this covenant is NOT that the people would be “saved” if they follow the conditions and obey the LORD, but that it directs, or paves a way/path to salvation, which is through Christ.
