When God made the covenant with Abram, his name meant “Exalted father” (Gen. 12:1-3; 13:14-18), but later this name was changed to Abraham, meaning “father of many” (Gen. 17:5-8). This covenant is so important to know, because it is the foundational covenant. Not only is this a foundational covenant, but it also indicates God forming His nation, His people, the people of Israel.

In this episode, I explain what is the importance of this covenant and how it is related to the central theme of the Bible: God’s rule.

There are three main points in this covenant:[/fusion_text][fusion_separator style_type=”none” top_margin=”15″ bottom_margin=”15″ sep_color=”” border_size=”” icon=”” icon_circle=”” icon_circle_color=”” width=”” alignment=”center” class=”” id=””/][/fusion_builder_column][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”][fusion_checklist icon=”fa-check” iconcolor=”” circle=”” circlecolor=”” size=”13px” class=”custom-list-size” id=””][fusion_li_item icon=”fa-star”]The promise of land (Gen. 12:1)[/fusion_li_item][fusion_li_item icon=”fa-star”]The promise of descendants (Gen. 12:2)[/fusion_li_item][fusion_li_item icon=”fa-star”]The promise of blessings (Gen. 12:3)[/fusion_li_item][/fusion_checklist][fusion_separator style_type=”none” top_margin=”15″ bottom_margin=”15″ sep_color=”” border_size=”” icon=”” icon_circle=”” icon_circle_color=”” width=”” alignment=”center” class=”” id=””/][fusion_text]Not only is this covenant made primarily with Abraham at first, but later it was also expanded. To understand and see this expansion, we should know the following Scriptures:
